Cuba’s ‘miracle’: full employment The ILO has stated Cuba is ‘almost a miracle’ for its social security and unemployment policies. Cuba’s unemployment is 1.9 per cent compared with Latin America’s average of 11 per cent (www.plenglish.com/ 29.3.05). Cuba threatens imperialism because its free education, health care and democracy are living proof third world people can live in dignity, with decent living standards. The 50-year US blockade has failed to suppress its inspiration, or stop its help for other poor nations. |
